Sophomore engineering students interact with SMAs through projects, homework, and in-class demonstrations. These projects and homework assignments emphasize teamwork and intelligent systems. The SMA torque tube experiment proved too slow to perform in class. However, a data display can be seen below. A data file from an actual experiment performed outside the class is provided, and the students are guided through data reduction and material characterization.
